What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of Christian initiation, which lay the foundations of every Christian life. It completes the Baptismal anointing and is necessary for the completion of Baptismal grace. This sacrament prepares us to spread and defend the faith by word and deed. Those going through Confirmation choose a sponsor, someone to be their ‘spiritual friend’ to help them on their faith journey.
In our parish, Confirmation takes place in 9th grade. The preparation period begins in the fall. We gather twice a month on Sunday evenings from 4:30 to 6:30 PM alternating locations between Holy Trinity Church and Twelve Apostles Chapel. A retreat is held half-way through the preparation process at Conception Abbey. Candidates are Confirmed in the spring.
