April's Work of Mercy:
To Forgive Offenses Willingly
April Work of Mercy: Forgive Offenses Willingly
When we live the message of Divine Mercy, we are called to show mercy and forgiveness to others. In the Bible, Jesus tells several parables to show us the great importance of forgiving others. Forgiveness is so important that it is also included in the prayer that Jesus teaches us, The Our Father. In this prayer we say, “Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
If someone has hurt our feelings, it is best to let go of those hurt feelings and forgive that person as soon as we can. The longer we hold on to hurt feelings, the more it hurts and the harder it is to forgive.
Ways to live out this work of mercy and forgive others:
Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ. (Ephesians 4:32)
The Christmas Banquet was a wonderful event, and Holy Trinity and Twelve Apostles generously provided over 1000 personal items for inmates gift bags. Perhaps more importantly, we made sure that each of the children of the inmates, regardless of their age, had a wonderful gift from their Dad to open that day.
Gina Hanna of Beauty for Ashes Ministry prepared a short video to share special moments at the banquet with us. She said, "I hope this video captures the impact that you and your parishes had on these men and their families. It was such a blessing to partner with you this year."
